L'ECOLE DE TENNIS
L’Ecole de Tennis uses a two step approach, with two different development stages of learning and progression.
MINI-TENNIS LEVEL
“Mini-Tennis” level with classes for children age 6 and under who are just starting out in tennis. Players are trying to get acquainted with how their bodies work and how the racquet interacts with the ball.
Red felt ball will be used for playing, therefore reducing bounce from yellow felt ball giving more time to develop basic athletic, racket and tennis game skills. It will also help players to develop a good technique during the drills used.
The racket size for this class is 23 inches or less, dependent on the size of the player, and the small court size will be used (36 feet by 18 feet).
The main goal of this class level is to help develop the hand-eye coordination, motor and basic athletic skills needed to advance to the next level.
FUTURE LEVEL
“Future” level with classes for children age 10 and under who have been playing tennis for a couple years more or less. The players learn to move and play on a larger court, still relevant to their size.
The players are learning the technical part of each stroke. The goal is to help players play rallies finding more consistency needed to move to the next level, with the ability to serve.
The intermediate court size will be used with the use of orange balls. The racket size for this class is 23–25″ dependent on the size of the player and its ability; and the intermediate court size used will be 60 feet by 27 feet.
The best 8-10 years old will be ready to compete in the USTA Novice tournaments (Level 7) in order to gain some competition experience playing matches.
LA COMPETITION
La Competition, like L’Ecole de Tennis, uses two different development stages.
CHALLENGER LEVEL
“Challenger” level with classes for children age 8-12 years old who have been progressing and developing their tennis game for 3-4 years.
Green felt ball will be used for rallies and they are slightly slower moving and reduced bounce from yellow felt ball giving more time to get to and return shots, helping players to continue to develop good technique, movement and advanced tactics.
The racket size for this class is 25–27″ dependent on the size of the player, and the full court size will be used (78′ x 27′ singles; 78′ x 36′ doubles).
The best 10 years old will be ready to compete in the USTA tournaments Satellite (Level 6) or/and Open (Level 5 and higher).
TOUR LEVEL
“Tour” level with classes for children 10-18 years old who are competitive players and who have progressed through Red, Orange and Green stages.
The players are ready to take their game to the next level. The goal is to help players develop tournament mentality backed by strokes and strategies, and enter the High School tennis team and USTA tournaments Satellite and Open levels.
The full court size will be used with the use of yellow balls. The racket size for this class is 26–27″ dependent on the size of the player, and the full court size will also be used (78′ x 27’singles; 78′ x 36′ doubles).
